Don Corliss received his law degree from Santa Clara University and an LLM (Federal Taxation) from New York University. He has practiced with several mid-sized AV-rated firms during his career before forming his own firm, Corliss, A Law Corporation. He was a co-founder, President, and COO of a publicly traded company (NASDAQ National Market Status) and was the General Counsel and Vice President to a large privately held company in the construction industry.
Mr. Corliss has more than 40 years of experience as a business/corporate, tax, and business planning attorney.
Areas of experience include:
- corporate, partnership and limited liability company formation and capitalization;
- mergers and acquisitions;
- extensive contract work;
- business exit and continuation planning including buy-sell agreements;
- business risk management;
- wealth preservation and planning.
In addition to broad-based legal experience Mr. Corliss has extensive business experience as a real estate and business developer, business manager, executive, and outside corporate general counsel. He was nominated to the IPO Hall of Fame at the Leavy School of Business, Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, Santa Clara University for his work in the public startup sector.
Mr. Corliss is licensed to practice in all federal and state courts within California. Residing in South Orange County, California, Don enjoys outdoor activities including Tai Chi and hiking, and is an avid amateur photographer.

It is really hard to speak, and even harder to "plan" generational wealth with a parent in terms of assets, intentions, and mortality, but it is a necessary conversation to have, if only to lessen the unfairness of life that eventually catches up to all of us.
Our family tried to bring justice to my father's death within this probate process and found no justice, this system must be changed, so that a fairness is inherit within this system and not just a scam—lots of hard lessons to be learned from a broken probate process.
In either case, thank you again for giving our family the attention and direction we sought. The adage is true, not all lawyers are the same. Looking forward to working with your office in the near future, as we don't want to repeat this experience with our Mom.
